Sick Time / Vacation Time Tracking

Q. If I want to "Front Load" my employees' Sick Time so that I don't have to offer Carry Over, how do I set that up properly?

Answer:

Set it to "fixed" hours per year. That lets Maxx calculate the amount used and remaining, but gives a fixed amount of hours available at the beginning of the year. It was created for the option to give a fixed amount of hours and not have to track carry over.

If you change the employee to "fixed hours" it will disable the carry over field on the benefits tab because it does not use them even if they have a value in them.

It will set the carry over and maximum hours per year to zero when you save the employee form. It does not zero them out until you save the form in case you click on the radio button by mistake which would blow those away before you could correct yourself.

Payroll Tax Tables

Q. I have set up all my employees in payroll but when I go to choose the tax tables the screen comes up blank.

Answer:

Each Employee has to have their State and Country entered on General page of the Employee information screen. The Country will determine the Federal Tax tables displayed, and the State will determine which list of State tables you will see.

The tax tables are updated automatically behind the scenes, as new tables are released or changed during the year. If a new table is posted, simply exiting and restarting the program will update your tables.

Technician Checklist

Q. What is the Technician Checklist and how can I access it?

Answer:

Checklists are a list of the items that you want the tech to check on either a particular vehicle or on all vehicles (example is a "10 point checklist" where you check 10 different items like fluids, brakes etc). Go to Setups, Misc, Checklist groups and checklists.

Here is a video that will help you get your Checklists started:
